After a few years riding on the coat tales of the Razr,re-designing it and re-releasing it its good to see that they've finally given up the Razr and finally laid it to rest,no matter how good the aforementioned phone was there is a limit on how often you can update a product. Which leads us to the Z10 (ironically an update to the Rizr Z8!!) Gone is the 2mp Camera, changed in favour of a 3.2 snapper with auto focus obviously better, gone is the 262k screen, changed in favour of a 16 million colour screen which is far more crisp and sharp and finally gone is the old confusing menu system in favour of a Linux based system which is easier to navigate and far easier to get used to.
The Z10 is marketed as a camera/movie phone due to the greatly improved camera and 30fps video recording which, on the improved screen, looks near HD quality, fantastic. Watching the movies on such a small screen is not ideal but everything is so bright and clear you soon get used to it, kudos to you Motorola!!
Alls good then...until you slide the phone open and unfortunately this is where it looses a star, it has the same 'kikr' slide action as the K8, nice and smooth but the number/letter keys are just about completely flat against the phone so feeling the individual keys becomes extremely hard as they come indistinguishable, on top of that the bottom row of keys are too close to the bottom lip of the phone making them awkward to press which is a real shame.
From the stainless steel casing the Z10 has an air of quality about it its just a shame that its let down slightly by the keypad. Welcome back Moto!!
