Standing four feet tall, the Ngoma has a commanding presence in any drum ensemble.
Designed by the legendary Nigerian drummer Babatunde Olatunji, Remo`s version of this traditional West African drum is 48" tall and is available in key-tuned 14" or 16" sizes. Its timbre is similar to a conga and large Tubano, only bigger.
The Standing Ngomas come with high-density molded bases to protect the shell and minimize the drum`s walking during play. This Remo innovation protects the bottom of the shell and raises drum off the floor, increasing the tone quality and projection.
The Ngomas comparative light weight comes from its ACOUSTICON 516 shell material. Its deep, rich sound radiates from the Type 2 NUSKYN drumhead and the drums routed bearing edge.
