Composer:
Joaquin Rodrigo

Artist(s):
Kaori Muraji

Conductor:
Victor Pablo Perez

Background: Kaori Muraji, a star in her native Japan, performs some of the world’s best-loved guitar music by Rodrigo in this new recording. Muraji formed a close friendship with the composer, who predicted she would become 'THE twenty-first-century interpreter' of his music.

Their mutual admiration enabled Muraji to deepen the special affinity she felt towards Rodrigo’s music. She plays Rodrigo’s most famous concerto and one of the most popular classical works, Concierto de Aranjuez, as well as his final concerto, the sparkling Concierto para una fiesta, regarded as one of the most difficult works in the repertoire. This disc also includes the beautiful work Sones en la Giralda, originally written for the harp. This piece is a virtuosic musical fantasy and celebration of the city of Seville’s exquisite bell tower.
